I am pleased to provide a blog for Turkey Point Tourism regarding largemouth fishing in Long Point Bay. I hope that other fellow Lake Erie Bass Masters will join me in adding a blog to the site. Tips, tricks, or stories on any fishing pertaining to the Turkey Point area would be welcome advice for fishermen wanting to explore our backyard.
Long Point Bay is rich in tradition when it comes to catching Largemouth Bass. Long Point is arguably one of the finest Largemouth fisheries in Canada. Whether you're fishing a competitive tournament or simply just out for a day or evening trip, the largemouth fishery is sure to please.
Miles of shoreline fishing opportunities around the Inner Bay make it possible from any size boat or kayak. Bass are caught by many techniques, my personnel favorite, flipping jigs or worms have always been a great way to experience the thrill of a Long Point Bay largemouth. Spinnerbaits, buzz baits, stick baits, and other topwater lures will also not disappoint. My go-to colors are White, purple, or chartreuse. If shoreline bass fishing is not for you we are fortunate to have many submerged weed islands, puffs, and flats that will produce by throwing crankbaits, drop shots, rattle traps, twister tail jigs or a Carolina rig. Casting from a distance will give an advantage as the water clarity in Long Point Bay is mostly very clear.
No matter if the Bay is your backyard or you are looking for a fun fishing destination for the entire family, Turkey Point and Long Point Bay are full of fun in the sun, not to mention our area wineries, beaches, and attractions. Be sure to come to see us at MacDonald Turkey Point Marina for all your bass fishing needs. Our 4 pad ramp and parking areas are very spacious with full washroom faculties and food options from our onsite restaurant The Jetty located on the pier, or our food trailer Penny’s Eats and Treats located at our boat ramp.
Take a child fishing, let them experience the thrill of catching a Long Point Bay largemouth bass.
Good luck and have a catching day on the bay.
Thank You,
Brad Thomson
